is gasgacinch needed?

edelbrock instructions say to use their part no 9300 gasgacinch when install intake manifold. I'm going to be using gm#10159409 intake gaskets and they have raised edges around the ports. is anything really needed?

thansk

the other thing I noticed with the gm 10159409 is that the rear coolant port is blocked by a metal plate. there's only a small hole it it. is this not restricting coolant flow?

The stock TBI intakes have a huge water jacket under the runners and around the plenum. That is what the small water feed hole is for. It is correct with the plate and small hole.

actually mine are open. right near the one on the ps side there's the connection for the heater core. I wonder if it's ok that there's a very small hole for coolant there. I don't care about the heater. if it's going to make the intake charge cooler then I guess that's a good thing.

You can use Gasgacinch if you want, but all you really need is a little rtv around the water ports.
