cleaned all engine parts getting ready to put back together with new head gaskets

ok.. I cleaned the block surface, intake surfaces, heads. sanded them all with 150 emery sand paper and wiped em all down with break cleaner. I noticed that one of the cylinders if I turn the engine by hand it leaves a small faint streak of oil at on spot in the cylinder. I don't know if it's cause oil spilled when I took the heads off or intake. then engine had 8000kms on it when the head gasket went so it's still likenew.

the other thing is I was using a ratchet on the front to turn it over(with the heads off).. when I turned it back I cracked the nut loose or bolt whatever is in there. should I remove it and put lock tite or is it ok? I tried to tighten as best I could but it's hard to hold the balancer.

one of my pistons has a bit of rust near the edge I'm assuming from coolant getting on it.. when I turn it over by hand it leaves a bit of oily rust. if I wipe it off the cylinder is fine. should I worry about this?

I plan on running the engine with cheap oil for 100kms afterwards and then changing back to my usual mobil 1 and change the filter again of course.. just to rinse all the crap that could be left.

I also poured about a litre of oil in the valley before I drained the oil tonight.

sorry for all the questions.. I'm just an amateur and don't want to screw this up.

Yes remove an put locktite, it is the only thing (becides the taper on teh balancer) that holds the balancer on.

ok thanks.. pardon my stupidity but I never had that off before so I wasen't sure if I should remove it.

blue or red locktite? does it have to super tight? it's hard to hold the balancer and tighten it very much.

No reason to use loctite, hold the balancer with a strap wrench or hold the flexplate to keep the emgine from spinning, and torque the bolt to spec's...probably somewhere in the 60 ft/lb range.

The rust you're seeing is probably from the rings, it'd be best to try to flush it out, but most likely will be difficult with the pistons in the cylinders.
