Which Comp Cam should I use ?

I am trying to make the right choice on cam selection. The engine will be a CC Carb'd 355 with (I hope) Vortec heads and 8.75:1 to 9.0:1. I will eventually have 3.23 gears in the rearend. It also has the 700R4 transmission. I am looking at the CompCams Extreme energy 262 or 268. Will these cams work with my computer. What are you guys using with your CC carb and computer? Thanks for your help!

Mark

I know the 262 will run with the computer and you'll pass the sniffer. I have a little higher compression ratio, same gears, and a high stall converter and it works great.

the 262 runs like a rape ape in my LG4.

If I Were you Tho, I would step up to the 268.

With the better Flowing heads, and better flowing intake the vortech ehads are gonna force you To get, You should make more power.

the 262 is big on the 305, but mild on the 350.

You can definatley go to the 268H but I would at least hammer some 3.42's out back, a 600 RPM above stock stall converter and a beautiful Edelbrock Performer RPM or AIR GAP manifold with your heads. You will definately need headers of course and about a 650 CFM double pumper. BTW remember to make sure your springs can candle that cam. Too soft and you risk coil bind or ramming a valve though a piston, too hard and you can literally gring the lobes off your cam.

Or you can do what I did.....get a fat 292H some 4.10's and a 3500 stall and that baby will show you the meaning of a raped ape.
