how tight do my valve cover screws need to be???

I am replacing the valve cover gasket on my 88 pontiac firebird formula 305 tpi and i am wondering to what torque do the screws need to be tightned to when putting the cover back on???

The torque for the valve cover bolts is 75 inch pounds on your engine.

just snug.
not very tight... the rubber gasket on centerbolts doesnt have to be squshed hard to seal... and the small bolts holding the valve cover are easy to break off into the head if you try to crank them down.


if the bolts are weeping oil, goto lowes, home depot, ace hardware, ect.. and get some 1/4" copper washers.
the soft copper washers act as a seal.... after they've been compressed a couple times, they can no longer form to the cover and bolt, and the weep oil.
i paid 20 cents for a pack of 10 at lowes.... worth the money.
