I need your thoughts...
I didn't quite know where to put this- I'm looking at this '91 RS for a winter car- not sure quite what to offer him based on the mechanical/cosmetics that it needs. I know it's not worth anywhere near is asking price tho. I'm pretty sure it needs a new transmission mount. It puffed some white smoke on start-up and I didn't notice if it went away after the engine was warmed up or not. Also, the brakes felt mushy compared to mine. They're not horrible but they need some work. Also, the hood and front clip need to be repainted and there is rust starting on the inside lip of the fenders that should be easy to fix. My question is based on how much all this could possibly cost what would be a reasonable offer. Oh, it has a 305 and 114,000 miles. Here's the link to the ad.... http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...or=&cardist=25

I think the price is pretty competitive ..
2600$ for a '91
Obviousy, it'll need work
Anyways bargain away .. see where it goes.

Dam im braindead today. Considering its v8 car it has more value than a v6 due to the ease of the motor swap. That sounds alot like my car except the rust in the fenderwells and theres no way i would sell my car for 750.

maybe cars go for more where you guys are from, but around here you can get a V8 camaro/bird with around 120,000 miles and good body for about $3000. As a matter of fact there's an 89 Formula I'm looking at that has a fairly fresh paint job and 102,000 miles that doesn't have mechanical issues like this Camaro does and their asking price is $2500, so this guy is out of his mind unless he thinks people won't notice the big thump when you step on it and won't care that the thing won't stop and choose not to notice the paint that is oxidized beyond belief on the hood. ( BTW- it's not anywhere near as nice as it looks in the picture. I almost drove on by it when I saw it in person except that I was at the end of the road and hadn't seen another red camaro so I figured it must be it )

I seriously doubt you're gonna get that car for under $1500. The work it needs will not cost much at all. Hell, you could do most of it yourself! I am just wondering why you would want that as a winter car, camaros are TERRIBLE in any kind of winter weather! Looks like the asking price is fine to me, he says he's garaged it during the winters so the floor boards are probably in great shape.

yeah, I think we all know that a rear-wheel drive V8 car with fat tires and somewhat short wheelbase is going to suck on the snow/ice. Reason I'm looking for a thirdgen is because I miss my Trans Am SO much in the winter time but there's no way I'm drivin' that baby is the salty slushy mess for 6 months. Yeah, I would agree that if I was just going to go buy the car and drive it and didn't care what it looked like it's worth $1500- but he wants $2600. Also, I'm not gonna spend even $1500 on a car that needs more than a grand to get it into the same shape as this Formula with 12,000 less miles and an awesome sound system and a decent body that they're asking $2500 for. I'm thinkin' I'm just not gonna call the guy back.
