Rust on gas tank? Should I be worried?
Well looking at the gas tank the other day after doing a lil underbody inspection (after cleanin up the car) i noticed the gas tank had a rust spot on there.... and it looks a tad ominous. Should I worry?
Also I have yet another problem to deal with. The flare nut leading up the fuel filter is rounded. I can't get it out and I really want to change that filter. But nothing is working, liquid wrench soaking and vice grips just rip more of the bolt off. What can I do? Am I going to need to replace the fuel line at all?
Thanks for any help I can get

my car has about 18" of rubber line running into a small steel line then into the carb. On my car i can unscrew the entire fuel filter assembly from the carb itself, take of the rubber hose and play with it as neccesary off the car.
If yours is all steel, you could always cut the line and splice in a 1" rubber piece over the cut.
if your worried about the rust, try sanding it down a bit to see how deep it goes then blast it with some por-15 rust paint

Well the rust has a crack in it. Theres no leaking fuel im just afraid there could be in the future. Do you know how much it might cost for me to replace the entire deal (fuel tank and line to the filter)... also would that require a new fuel pump or could i just use my existing one?

If your removing the tank it would be a good idea to install a new pump. Unless you have done this recently. Dont want to spend a few hundred dollars for the work and then have to do it again (never know when a 19 year old pump is going to die). Removing the tank is a pain in the a**.

I think I'll do my best to protect the gas tank with some primer or something to that effect (that por 15 stuff)
As for the fuel line, I'm gonna get a pic so you guys know what im talkin about just ot make sure that if I do make a repair to it, I do the right thing.

Oh and just to mention..... now that I think about it....
How can I cut the fuel line without creating sparks and possibly setting the enging(and myself) on fire? LOL

undo the line from the fuel pump and let the fuel drain out of the carb
speaking of fuel, found out today my carbs air horn is leaking, that explains the 6mpg im getting..pos screws never stay tight
