Tach can on firewall

I'm trying to get my distributor back in and can't find the white wire that goes to the little screw in the distributor. The "tach can filter" or whatever just has a two wire connector comeing from it, if I'm looking at the right thing. Do I even have a little white wire? BTW its an '84 L69. I know my '85 has one...
