I have a 84 Z28 Camaro with a 350 bored .30 over flat top pistons,headers,L31 vortec heads,Performer RPM manifold 600 carter comp.Carb. and just put a 268H Comp.Cam in it.I used all of the Comp stuff with it springs,retainers,lifters,and so on for the installation.I have had nothing but trouble with the engine since the cam installation.First I had a real big problem with trying to get my rockers adjusted,it was so noisy it sounded like a diesel I have the majority of that noise out of it now but it is still loud,the valve train that is .My big problem now is that the engine will not give me more than 4000RPM.It just dies like it is starved for air or fuel.I have checked out the fuel system and can't find anything wrong there.I dont know if the cam is messed up or what,it has pretty good bottom end but no top end at all.This whole thing has just about put me in the poor farm.The old trial and error method can get expensive.I just dont know what to do next and really need some help.I dont know if I have given enough information for anyone to have any idea what may be wrong but if you have any idea please get back with me.If you need more info.Just let me know and I will give you whatever I can.
