Strange sound from the valve covers......
Here is the deal. I have been tuning up my engine for the last week and I think I finally got it under control...lol Anyway I have been hearing this sound that I was thinking was spark knock. Well today I was taking my carb spacer out and when I got it back together I fired it up and I could here the noise that I thought was spark knock......Well I put my ear down by the valve cover and I can here is nice and loud from under there. Now keep in mind this is not a tick sound more like a knock sound that varies with RPM's.
What I have for valve train......
Crane Energizer Cam+Lifters 228/228 @ .050 480/480 lift
Speed pro Heat-Treated push rods Stock length
Crane Cams Steel Roller Rockers p/n 11806 1.50 Ratio
Guideplates
Sportsman 2 Heads w/Pioneer spring good to 610 lift, retainers, locks and screw in studs.
Before I go and start tearing this thing down I was hoping for some insight as to what it could be that would make a knock in there..... There is about 5000 miles on the heads. And 1500 miles on the engine.

Pull the valve cover and see if you see anything out of the ordinary. It could be a variety of things... See if you see anything out of the ordinary... You can also start the car for a few seconds to see if you can pinpoint the sound w/ the VC off. It won't squirt oil for the first few seconds, just long enough to see what the issue is.

Might be a long shot, but buddy has a BBC with moroso chrome vavle covers and has a few rockers that actually hit the inside of the cover itself and produces a low octive thump thump thump.
If you pull a cover off and no noise that may be the case and require a taller cover or double gasket. Hopefully it's as minor as this.
