327 or 350???
I was thinking of getting a 327 or a 350...Money is an issue..Which one is gonna be less expensive? I am pretty sure the 350 makes more power...but how much more? what are the around horsepower figures on both motors? BTW it's gonna be carbed......I'm replacing the 307 in my 89 RS...

to generalize the 350 is better, easier, or cheaper. that said i like the 327 way more than the 350. 327 has small journals heads for leaded fuel, hard to find, less aftermarket parts and the 327 tends to be a high rpm engine. i have one in my 68ss in front of a 4 speed muncie.

I have heard that a 350 down-stroked to a 327 gets you the best of both worlds.
I don't know how much $$ it would cost you, but if you're planning to build an engine, it might be something to consider?

350s came from the factory with horsepower ratings anywhere from 160 to 375, and 327s were available from about 180 to 350. It is meaningless to ask how much power either will produce without knowing the details of how it is built.
It's always easier and cheaper to get a given amount of power out of a larger motor than a smaller one, when they're the same kind (small block Chevy in this case). The 350 is the cheapest V8 motor to build, period.
327 and 350 have the same bore; 327 stroke is 3.25", 350 is 3.48". There is no advantage whatsoever in a 327 over a 350. We all quit building 327s the minute we first got our hands on 350s, because every dollar you spend on a 350 gets you more than the same dollar spent on a 327.

The 350 is better than a 327 in a performance street car for the same reason a 383 is better than a 350--more cubes and more torque. 350 is a 'stroked' 327 and a 383 is a 'stroked' 350.
