If a regular dist wrench doesn't work, you might try a crow foot wrench.

do you mean the distributor clamp keeps comming loose??

or that you cant get to the bolt to tighten it up properly ??

if its the clamp that keeps comming loose then try putting a lock washer on top of the distributor clamp and tighten down the bolt

if its that you cant get to it to tighten it up properly then you need to use a distributor wrench or a crows foot like Vader said ...

Any chance your bolt is too long? Might try a stud and nut type setup. That's what I use.

I have to use a lock washer to keep mine down.

You probably have the cheap mr. gasket chrome hold down clamp that I was using until about a week ago... My problem was that with it tightened as much as possible, it didn't apply adequate clamping force to the distributor base. It just doesn't work... Go back to the slotted cast aluminum GM piece and all will be well again...

Nice. May be too late, but did you happen to check if the one you were having problems with one of those 'stepped' designs that can be intalled only one way? Lots of people have problems with those beign installed upside down. (If I'm dating myself, let it lie )

I had the chrome Mr. Gasket/spector(one of those) and it would flatten out. I went back to the GM slotted one also. Dosent look as nice, but have to use what works.
