Troubles siphoning fuel from 84 Z28 HO.

I have about 1/4 tank of gasoline in my 84 Z28 that has been sitting for roughly 1 year. Not expecting it to sit that long, I neglected to add any stabilizer prior to parking it.

I have a 6' siphon hose that I have been trying to get the old fuel out with, but have not been having much luck. I can get the hose down there quite far, but it can't find its way into the actual gasoline.

I know some 3rd gen's had baffled tanks (namely 1LE's). Is there a chance L69's did as well and the hose is just scooting along atop the baffling, never finding the gas sitting below? If not, any tips to getting the hose to find where the gas is hiding?

Failing the siphoning idea, what's next? I've read many posts about unplugging the fuel filter and running the fuel pump by turning the key, but aren't 84 Z28's mechanical pumps? Can I do a similar trick with this pump to get the gasoline out?

What other options do I have? Would I be safe just topping up the tank with fresh gas at this point?

Thanks in advance.

If it's only a year and it's only a quarter of a tank I wouldn't worry about it too much.

You could probably get away with topping it off if you're worried about it.

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. I added about 5 galons of fresh gas and started it up. Doesn't run too bad. I tried to get the siphon in there again once it was up to a half tank just for curiousity sake, but still no luck. Wonder what's up with that...
