Only way I counld see the crank hitting the pan, is if there was a huge dent in it.

Ofcouse all the main bolts could have fallen out too

Lower end knock is probably bearings.

If your crank is hitting the oil pan, you have a serious problem. When the crank even dips into the oil, it will spin it so fast and put bubbles into the oil . This is like having virtually no oil, because the oil can't lubricate anything with all the bubbles in it. Look at the oil. If it is like a white foam, that is what happened. Either a dent in the oil pan which made the oil level in the pan rise to high and hit the crank, or there is too much oil in the motor. Like Mike said, it is probably a rod bearing. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Ive had this happen Before, one of the counterweights on the crank was contacting the bottom of the oilpan, this was on a regular 4bolt Main 350.

a thicker, one peice felpro gasket solved it, but it was very strange. It actually wore a little hole in the semi-windage tray thats in the bottom of the stock pans.

Why Did it do this ? I have no freakin idea.
