Installing Valve Stem Oil Seals - Need Help

The replacement exhaust seals I got (Victor B54264) are different from the originals. The old ones have a groove for a wire ring at the top, and a larger groove for a wire band at the bottom. The new ones are the same size but have no grooves at all. Do these just slide over sans wire bands/rings and thats it? Any help would be really great.

yep i'd say the seals are just differant and will work. test fit a seal, with out the valve, on the valve guide and see how it works and fits.

It doesn't hold as secure as the old one on the base. That's what I'm worried about. This is definately not a job you want to do twice. It's no wonder it smoked at start-up though. There is a huge differance with the grip of the valve stem. Thanks for the reply.
