at idle and stumble or miss at road speeds??
Anyone have any thoughts on this problem?

I seriously doubt it. The only thing the AIR pump is there to do is pump oxygen into the manifolds and converter to help use up unburnt fuel for cleaner emissions.

my $.02

No, and air pump won;t have anythign to do with that. On a TPI engine tho, those symptoms could be caused by about a hundred things, I'll leave that part of the question for someone more familiar with it.

You could take that thing out and the only difference you will notice is a bad smell from the CAT not working at its full potential :P

There are probably 150 problems you could have, just search the board for "surge" or "bad idle" or whatever. I have some thoughts on this problem: it sucks! I would hate if my car did that!

I've been trying to fix my surge problem for months now. New fuel pump, filter, plugs, entire distributor assembly, wires, coil, battery, alternator, CTS, TPS, IAC Cleaning **** it...these cars are POS's by today's standards that's for sure so I just enjoy it for what it is...nothing more.
