Just bought a 91 RS and it runs and drives great but when I give it gas I hear a rubbing noise. It sounded like one of the brake pads was rubbing a little but when I would stay in one place and give it a little gas I would produce the same noise but not when I am just idle.

Any ideas?

 

What part of the car does it seem to be coming from?

It does seem to come from the motor but I dont see any problems with belts or anything like that. Im a computer tech and for some reason did not get into cars when I was a teen but the bug has bitten me now so I will prob have to take it to a garage and shell out some cash..

Too bad I dont have a gearhead uncle that lives close, hehe.

 

Try opening the hood and have somebody sit in the car with their foot on the brake and make it do it while you stand next to the car not in front of it and see if you can tell where it's coming from.
