It's my water pump, right?
I've got an 86 TA w/ a 305 and 5-speed. It's been over heating, and i've already changed the thermostat, and i know the fans are working.
When the engine's running, i here this squeak or squeal kinda noise. I'm almost positive it's not my fan belts. The noise also gets faster and louder as the RPM's go up. It's my water pump, right?
Any help would be appreciated.

Is it leaking out the weep hole? And define overheating.
The overheating and the squealing may or may not be related. Stick a chunk of heater hose in your ear and carefully listen to each accessory. Isolate the guilty party.

My water pump very quickly the other day without any symptoms before dying. It just started spewing coolant on my girlfriend's driveway (lucky because I had just gotten to her house after the 1/2 hour drive there) and squealing like hell. Well, it made a few squeals on the way there but I thought it was my brakes til I heard it when I was in park and got louder when I revved.
Got a ride home that night from my buddy and him and I went back there and got it fixed the next day. $45 for a new high-flow pump from Autozone ($28 for the stock replacement). Was easy as hell to get out...probably 3 minutes total with a ratchet. The gaskets are a pain in the *** though. Your best bet is to only put the sealant on one side at frist and let it dry tacky. Then put it on the other side and bolt it up in some sort of a cross torque sequence.

Don't listen to them, it's supercharged! There were only a select few '86 T/As with vortech technology back then. Heh, heh, sucker!
