2 ways:

1. Nitrous

2. Heads with great flow, high compression, 7500 RPM

HP = torque x RPM / 5252

Torque is a function of 3 things: cubic inches (you have only 327), "thermal efficiency" which is mostly a function of compression, and cylinder fill which will never be 100% except for possibly in a very narrow band around some "tuned" point in the induction system. You'll be lucky to get much more than 400 ft-lbs of torque out of it at any RPM; and you'll need to have 400 ft-lbs of torque at about 6000 RPM to get 450 HP out of it.

It's alot easier with more inches.

Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350
Axle/Gears: 8.5", 3.42
AFR 210 aluminum heads, Holley Dominator single plane intake, Holley 830 CFM DP carb, Crane 280/288 PowerMax solid cam, ~10.5:1 compression, 1-3/4" headers, and two Dynomax Ultra Flow 3" mufflers should do it.

Oh. And a 3,500+ stall converter (if auto trans) and 4.10 + gears.

EA 3.0 says ~460 HP.

Welcome to the boards.

Dont let these naysayers get you down. They're simply trying to say that it would be easier with a 350, and more cost effective (proven, not monkey-spank)... but it's basically in the fuel delivery and heads, if you can figure out how to stroke your engine, I'm sure you'd have no problem figuring out the $'s to get your motor to 450hp

lightly ported vortecs and a good cam should make 400 hp easily-stock vortecs should probably do it with the right cam.

1st, Welcome Aboard.

Okay, what is it going to take? I'd figure on about $5000. Not only do you have to make it, you have to keep it together.

Or, for about the same money, http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...120&pid=156334

damn. id love the GMPP 383, but i dont have 5 grand right now. what if id rebuild the 327 with around 10.5-11:1 compression, hillbilly ported 2.02 camle back heads, good cam (dont know how big yet, need a little help) performer RPM airgap intake, and headers around what would i be looking at.

If you really want to make horsepower....spend some extra money on some good aftermarket heads ( Aluminium best IMHO ).

Head technology is so far ahead of the double bumps it just doesn't make sense to even bother with modifying them. You're dealing with 30+ year old technology. In the end you'll spend almost as much money as buying new, reconditioning, porting, new guides, valves, springs etc....and you'll still have a set of 30+ year old heads.
