Brand new mechanical oil press gauge weird?

OK, I just installed a Summit mechanical oil pressure gauge in my car. I used copper tubing instead of the plastic crap that headers love to eat. Now my problem is that the damn thing reads really low, and my oil level is fine. It doesn't really go above 25psi, and idlingin while in gear, it drops to 0. Highway driving at about 2K RPM it stays a steady 20. What's the deal here? Air in the tubing that needs to be blead out? Dead oil pump? My piston rings are shot?

it could be that the gauge is accurate and you have oil preasure problems. i'd screw another gauge in the block if i could, or replace the gauge to eliminate that as the source of your problem.

Well... If it's not the gauge, what could the problem be? I don't think it's the rings, cuz I don't get oil on the plugs. What else could it be?

Loose bearings, as in the main bearings??? What other symptoms might loose bearings have? LOL Explain to me in detail. Consider me a moron. LOL

Consider this, though. I drive the car daily, it shakes a bit while idling in gear, but the driver's side motor mount and tranny mount are shot (I've already got a Energy Suspensions tranny mount). It's a bit rough starting up in the morning, but later in the day it's fine, even if I don't start it up for hours. The carb does pop every once in a while (bottom side of the air cleaner top is blackened). And while driving, the car is powerful as all hell, considering that it's an LG4 that I replaced the carb and intake (Edelbrock 1406 and Performer RPM) and ripped off the smog pump and crimped off the AIR tubes.

Are there any kinks in the tubing? Use another gauge to confirn your new one is accurate. I can't imagine that you have 0 psi in gear. Do your valves start to tick really loud when the gauge reads 0? What did your dash gauge read before you installed the new gauge?

One problem with the old dash reading... There was none. The stock dash is no longer in the car, and that had dummy lights. Old gauge was always pegged at the very top. That's why I got this gauge... As far as I know, no kinks, but I'll check that.
