adjusting timing

Hi all, Ive searched the boards and didnt come up with a clear answer. Ive borrowed a friends timing light and know to connect it to number one plug and point at the timing marks. I could not come up with where the "brown wire" is to disconnect the ESC and what I turn or adjust to set timing. Any leads to instructions or help would be appreciated. THX

The est wire should be on the passanger side behind the front fender well, you need to loosen the the hold down bolt on distributor and turn it to set the timing. I f ia m correct on this 305 's are set at 0*(stock) and 350's are set at 6* (stock)

My 89 305 TPI says 6º BTC in Drive on the emissions tag.

Okay that's probably what it is...i used to have a 305 TBI and the emissions tag read 0* . Guess TPI would be different then.

I think all the low-perf motors (LG4, L03) were set to 0* and the hi-perf motors (TPI, L69) were set to 6*.

All of those engines would like 6-8* though I bet. My 350 ('79 Z28) was spec'd to 0* by the factory, and it just loves 8* timing.
