Help! engine left out and 3" of rain came in
Left town for a few days and when i got back i saw it had rained. Bad thing is my carbed 350 was sitting outside with no air cleaner or tarp over it alowing water to come right down the intake
i dont knwo how much got it, looks like it seaped past the carb and down the intake, Think i could just turn it over and push the water out the headers? Or would i not beable to turn it over due to hydrolock, i really dont want to pull the heads on it right now

Well that sucks a big one. I would just leave it out (not in the rain) and maybe it will all just evaporate. But it might not because it's inside the engine...maybe a hair dryer would work if you shot it into the intake. You may have to take it apart and hand dry it. Good luck

Take out the spark plugs and spin it over; it won't turn if there's water in it, might even bend a rod, since water is not ocmpressible.
DO NOT attempt to turn it with the plugs in!!!

What RB said. Then spray lots of WD40 into the plug holes to keep things from rusting together

WD-40 will do a good job of displacing the water but eventually the metal will rust with WD-40 on it. WD-40 contains water... A better spray is
Rust Check
It will protect exposed bare metal from rusting much better than WD-40.

WD-40 or not,
just as RB said.
take out ALL 8 spark plugs
and then turn the engine over a few times. put your plugs back in, and turn it over by hand again a few more times before you start it.
You should be fine.
Same thing happened to a friend of mine a few months ago and his engine runs fine.

I just went through the same situation as you did. Like other suggested i took all the plugs out and tried turning it over. It wouldn't turn either way. I had the car towed to GM dealer and they said the enigne is damaged..
But the good thing happened and i had an engine replaced and it only cost me a deductabile (250). Be careful though, the insurance company might write the car off if the repairs/replacement will be higher than the value of your car..
Good luck..

lol i wish i could file insurance on the project motor, but i cant, got the water out of it, drained and replaced the oil, and im going to pop the heads off to have some work done to them, surface rust can always be removed with a boar job when i rebuild the motor.
