testing plug wires

2 of my spark plugs are black and the rest are white when I take them out. I put new plugs in last week and today those same two are black. I smelled gas and oil on them. I'm assuming that the wires that are hooked to them have to be shi**y. What is the best way to test the wires? If it's not the wires what can cause this to happen? If it was just a problem with running too rich, all the plugs would be black.
