Let's see how good you guys really are...answer this!!

I finally started putting my engine together again now that I have a block without a hole through a cylinder wall into a water jacket. I have the rotating assembly in and I was going to put the roller cam locking plate on and it's different than the last one I had. It's the oval plate that has two torx bolts holding it over the end of the cam. My original block was a 2-bolt Camaro block , but now I have a four-bolt out of a truck. I don't know what year the block is, but I'm guessing I just need the specific plate for that block. It's a one-piece rear main seal. Are all the truck block plates the same or do I need to know the year? If I need the year how can I find it out??

There are only two plates that I know of, early and late, the bolt pattern is wide on the early and narrow on the late.

You have a one piece rear main so that tells you that you have a 87 or later and they should be the same, but I could stand corrected.

Like Don said, there are 2 different ones.

The dealer can get either one, they are cheap.

Hah!!! I called the dealer twice today and they didn't know anything about the narrower one!! I hope I'm not screwed. Does anyone know how to find the year from the castings on my block? Or does anyone know what vehicles had the narrower plate??
