Heat question
I'm looking at an 89 Formula w/ carb'd 350/700r4....doesnt have the A/C stuff hooked up...thats fine, but it does get pretty damn cold up here in MA, and I hate driving to school freezing, lol
Any easy/inexpensive way to heat the car? i'm looking for at least somewhat serious replys, so no, i am not going to route the exhaust through the car itself to heat it up, though its not a bad idea, LOL
Sorry if this is the wrong section.....didnt know where to post this...
thx

Are you positive that the heater core hoses are disconnected? If all the air conditioning stuff is unhooked but still in place on the firewall, and your heater core hoses are hooked up, and your blower motor works, you should have heat unless your coolant level is low.
If you do not have heater core hoses and the blower moter workes, then install the hoses and be done with it.
If your firewall has no ac box at all and there are two big holes were it used to be, then you are in the same boat I was in, and I had to fab a heater box that puts the squirl cage of the blower centered over the round hole and routes the air to the square hole, I made one out of a 1978 chevy truck heater box that didn't have ac. I had to lengthen it 3 inches with sheet aluminum, then change the resistor for the speed control (located near squirl cage in heater box) over to the stock TransAm resistor (a little cutting of the trucks heater box and it fit perfectly).
Hope this helps.
EDIT: You could also try to find a heater box with a blower for the 3rdgen F-Body that has no ac and just install it with no modification. But they are pricey, I have not seen one sell on ebay for less than $100.00 (when there is one for sale) and have not found one at a bone yard yet. But look around you may find a deal.

You could use a small electric heater the plugs into the cigarette lighter. This is probably what i will end up doing, but i also probably won't be driving my camaro in the winter. I have seen them in the JC Whitney catalog www.jcwhitney.com
