Something wrong with starter/starting system

A couple weeks ago I went to start my car and it wouldn't even click. Usually I would have to turn the key once or twice because the starter solenoid was old. So I just replaced the starter and solenoid figuring that was the problem. I go to start it now.. nothing. No click or anything. I have a kill switch mounted in line with the clutch pedal switch so I guess it could be something wrong there. Ever since I installed that it seemed to have a little less starting power. I guess I'll check the switch next. Is there anything else that would cause this? A sensor, etc.. The fuseable links looked ok when I replaced the starter.

Thanks

PS I replaced the + battery cable while I was at it and the battery is relatively new. The lights, guages etc work fine so there's plenty of juice.

Hmm, yea I'll have to do that. Thing is the solenoid doesn't even go out or "click" which means either a fuseable link is bad (I've checked the ones under the dash near the clutch pedal switch (2 I think..) and the ones by the starter. Maybe I'm missing some..

I just rewired it so the clutch pedal switch and kill switch weren't in the circuit and it still wouldn't start. So maybe it's one of the fuseable links by the starter.

Does your 89 have a VATS system, have you tried another key? Try searching the archives under "VATS". It helped me out when I had to trouble shoot mine.
