Would it be worth it to put a 383 stroker kit in a 350 TPI? what would be the gains on a stock motor? what about on a motor with performer RPM heads and a mild street/peformance cam?

It will give the car even more low end. You should at least use some type of aluminum head (factory or otherwise). As long as you don't have traction problems already, your in good shape.
383s are torque motors not rpm motors. Keep gears to 373 or higher numerically

 

Why?? It seems to me that you would want to keep the atio to 3.42 or lower due to the increase in off the line torque. 3.73's will yield traction problems in a properly built TPI 383, and will give up too much at the top end, as the engine rapidly leaves the TPI's tuned powerband. 4.11's would be even worse.

By the way, I have a 383 stroker assembly for sale for 2-piece rear main seal applications: I just need to finish weight matching the forged pistons. I'm selling for $325 if you are interested.

Thanks for the info guys.. I am currently looking for a 350 TPI Z28 to buy.. and I was toying with the idea of putting a stroker kit in it.

 

your right..tempoary brain fade... I meant lower numerically (as in 342 or 323). It was too early to be replying..

I would not say that you would have traction problems with a 383/3.73 combination. I have 4.10s on my 400 and it works good from about 10mph. (but it's not a tpi)
