synthetic fluids, aluminum driveshaft, headlight covers, fiberglass hood with cold air induction, aluminum brake drums, etc, etc. keep everything light, aerodynamic, and keep the air going in and out of the engine low on restriction and cool.

Gearing is where the main savings can be made. I see you all ready have 2.73 gears and a locking converter... now does it lock? It won't if you've bypassed the computer and not installed some sort of switch (vacuum kit available or manual switch). Leaning out the carb can have an effect too along with a lower stall converter. Driving habits play a role too. What kind of mpg are you looking at now and what do you want? I doubt you'll see 50mpg, but 25-30 isn't out of the question with your set up. I get 25 on the highway.

If you have a Locking COnverter, it dosent matter what the stall is

The guy who rebuilt the tranny gave me another TC I don't think it was new but I believe he said it was hydrualic so it will lock on it's own. Does this sound right?\\
Before I had OD I was getting 14 mpg, and now I am getting 16mpg.

Do a search of the tranny board for lockup switch or vacuum switch and a few of my posts will come up about a TCI kit or B&M kit whitch you install in the tranny and it locks up the converter in 4th gear.
Bort- what about converters with different flashes? I would also assume that if you split hairs, a converter that slips more will use more gas then a stock converter... True, when they lock, they lower the rpms about the same amount, but they usually aren't locked in 1st-3rd gears, right?
