Down side to putting gears in?

What is the down side to putting 3.73 gears in? I have a 350 with 3 speed tranny. I have a holley 4 barrel 600.

I hope you like being broke because your car sure will like the gas!

The downside is you'll lose a little bit in top-end speed. But then, people don't put 3.73's on cars for the top end speed.

You'll notice an improvement in low-end power.

Your car probably will eat gas like crazy, but it's more due to the current tranny and carb. Just putting a 3.73 on, however, makes little difference.
