Anybody who knows about working on headers/exhaust.

Ok, you know how on the SLP headers, the y-pipe screws into 2 flanges on the headers? (Each flange has 2 holes) The last time I went to my mechanic he puched those holes out and made them hexagonal so that I could use a nut instead. He said it would prevent the bolts from snapping off and getting stuck. Just wondering, what kind of tool did he use to do that? Do you have attach something to the center of the hole? Because he only did the passenger side and now I snapped a bolt off on the driver's side one so I'm wondering how much trouble it would be to do the driver's side.

I'm not familiar with his terminology, but it sounds like he may have drilled the hole oversize, then re-tapped it, and put a stud in w/ a hex head. This is used alot on GM exhuast systems (just not the 3rd gens). That doesn't mean they won't break though. All you would have to do is remove the header (unless you like working overhead in tight spaces) and drill out the broken bolt, then tap it, and install a stud.
