Eagle Main Caps
Hi
87 2 bolt Hyd Roller block and getting ready to set up
machining for 383 setup.
Thinking about going to 4-bolt set up.
Reputable online store has the three center splayed
caps for $80.00. They are the Eagle brand.
Seems kinda cheap to me.
Any one have any experience or advise on them
Thanks

Never used them before but you will need to get the mains rebored. This will mover the crank center line higher in the block. Problem with that is with the 400 stroke you might have to get a small base cam and stock timing chains will be lose on it. How much power are you planing to make the you need a 4 bolt?

Main Caps
Hi,
Thanks for replys.
Was just wondering about the brand name.
Know they also make the cranks and rods for the
strokers.
Was going to just stud the 2-bolt but would still
have to line bore with them also.
As to line boring and slack chain and cam clearance
finding the best machine shop will take care of that.
Cam lift .550-.575 and 230-235@50 shouldn't be a
problem.
HP est- 480-510 with Miniram & good head-195cc.
Any more input on these caps appreciated.

I've always been under the impression that thye fasteners used are more important than the caps they hold...i/e my "guess", unless some infrior casting process is used by Eagle) is that if you used the caps with ARP hardware, you would be okay....could Eagle be any less inferior than stock GM two-bolt caps that are splayed?

Hi,
As to less inferior,
I don't know about Eagle, but some of the cranks rods ect
that are being sold over here come out of China.
And Metalurgic quality supposedly not on par with ours.
But can't always believe everything you read.
Have read quite a few posts on this subject.
