keep in the gas until its time to shift 2nd gear...shift, let off the brake and ride it out. DO NOT LET OFF THE GAS with your foot still on the brake. You will most likely break something.

Oh, he doesn't want to break anything. That's half the fun. If for some reason you want to stop the burn-out, slowly release the gas pedal. Just letting off the gas is tough on the tranny.

LOL its funny. Us camaro and firebird guys its like this. The stock to mildly moded cars are like "how do you burn out?" then the other guys that have the highly moded ones are like "how do you not burn out?"
I just think its funny, no flames intended

Exactly....how do you keep from doing a burnout? Who needs to start it with a brake/gas mash?
Just mash the gas anytime.....instant burnout!

with the camaro i have now, just feed it throttle from a roll or dump the clutch, but that's a stick. at the track with an auto or even on the street, give it juste enough brake pressure to hold it back and start rolling on the throttle. i like to keep the holding rpm between 4k and 5k. never shift while sitting if you have a 700r4 or 4l60 trans since they have such a large 1-2 gear seperation, it'll always kill the 2-4 band.
i smoke the tires until i see it in the mirrors then i come out with the tach in the 5k plus range. just keep them spinning until your sure they are clean of debris. after that, it's hook and go.
