Need help, LOTS of 87 IROC questions.... :-)
I am looking at an 87 L98 Iroc.
I've got a few questions!
The body is beat to crap, but after a test drive it seems to run pretty dang strong. It does seem to bog down when you put the pedal to the floor (at first) I am thinking that this is merely an ignition problem. Is this a good assumption?
The tranny doesnt shift hard, but doesnt miss either. On the test drive, I floored it severl times. It downshifted smoothly and took off. Anything I should be watching for? I dont have much experience with auto trannys....
Another problem is that I cant tell how many miles are on it. Does anyone know what the address of that free carfax.com report is? Someone had it a while back.... I cant tell about the miles becuase something seems to be in the way of the odometer.... It looks like it says 69,000, so it could be 169, or even 269 for all I know...
The car will be used as a donor car for my RS. If I get it, the 350 will go in place of that doggone 3.1.
Last thing, how would I go about hooking up my guages to the 87 tranny (etc..)

That first problem most likely is an ignition or fuel delivery problem.
With an auto tranny, make it shift through all the gears, at the slowest acceleration and the fastest. Listen to the RPM's, they should, of course, drop when shifting. If they go up any between gears, something's slipping.
