2000 rpms in park?
today i go out to start my car and when i do the rpms shot up to 1500 then slowly went to almost 2000! the car ran fine last night all i did was get the oil and rear end fluid changed then took it to the car wash and sprayed down the engine, car ran fine after that, first i thought maybe vaccum line came off from spraying down the engine but then why wouldnt it of done that last night? so i take it on a small test drive and the car almost drives it self and stays between 1500 - 2000 rpm in all gears, when i hit the gas it feels like its snapping into gear. at first i thought maybe TPS was off or damaged from engine wash could that be? what else could i check?oh another thing i noticed (before the test drive) was that theres a ton of pressure in the coolant system i spotted a small leak comming from the upper hose where it connects to the radiator the hose is fine and the clamp was tight so i take the cap off and it comes rushing out and starts backing up into the catch tank how is that possible after the car only ran for less than a minute? whats going on here

i just got done testing the TPS voltage i set the meter to 20 Vdc and first got a reading of 2.38 and went up to 2.55 over time i read an article saying that it should be at .710 when the meter is set to 20 Vdc is my TPS WAY off or am i missing something?
my car did that i have a tbi though but my problem was the throttle was sticking so i sprayed some wd40 on the cables and springs and i cleaned the throttle plates and the problem was solved.
as far as the tps goes, it should changed. it changes as the throttle is moved, the more throttle you give the more votls it has.

I think you are reading something wrong...
It should be around .54 close, and then over 4.0 when fully open...
Are you getting a 5v reference to the TPS?

the article i read is from www.iroczone.com under How To's and it says that maf sensor cars should be at .540 and speed density cars should be at .710 and at WOT should be at 4.000 or higher but when i plug the meter set it to 20 Vdc i get a reading of around 2.55
could it really be that far off? it would explain why the cars at almost 2000 rpm in park though is there anything thing else that controls rpms?

Well i took the car into the shop and they told me the reason for the idle being so far off was because the IAC was no good and the TPS was very weak or had no signal at idle, but the car was running just fine night before, so i would NOT recommend pressure washing your engine. as far as the sound i was hearing when i hit the gas, was one of the tranny mounts had become seperated and the tranny was smacking into the underneath, really sucked to have all these things happen at once, but there fixed now.
