Throttle sticks wide open!

Today, i went and washed my car at the shop..
When i went to leave, it had a hell of a time firing up, it kept starting and hitting 1500 and then just dying..
Finally, i got it to wake up, and drove it out of the shop..
I got out onto a small straight stretch and got into it..
I didn't punch it to the floor.
I went to let off the gas and it stuck wide open.. I hit the brakes and got slowed down (tires were smoking)and i shut it off.

Sat there for a minute and collected my thoughts..
Fired it up, and it runs fine again.. But this is the 3rd time that my throttle has stuck on me. I tried to get it to do it again, and it wouldn't.

I did a search, and i can't seem to find anyone who had the same type of problem..

Anyone have an idea what's going on with my car?

Yep. I have had throttles stick in a two cars... once could have been deadly... very scary. WIde open in fourth gear to hard braking into a corner and all of a sudden what the #%$@ stuck WIDE OPEN I shut it down and tried to drive through but two ditches and a bumper and two fenders, a rad, and a pair of underwhere and the drivers seat and all sorts of other nasties later it turns out there was a bent arm on the vacuum secondary diaphram linkage that got stuck under the Holley carb base. It would only get far enough down to catch when wide open

Second time the bushings were gone on the throttle body on my truck ( over 340k miles ) that caused the blades to bind into the side of the bores. luckilly in that case it was similar to yours only at medium throttle and a stomp or two on the peddle would release it. A rebush (sp?) of the throttle shafts was all it took to fix it up which is what I would check on yours providing the cable is moving freely of course.

I know of a local stock car racer who crashed and died from the throttle sticking. I would not be driving ANYWHERE until you get this solved. Good luck

Something to look at also is the cruise control.
A friend had that happen to him in a thirdgen, it ended up turning into a high speed police chase that ended in a crash. He thought it had something to do with the cruise

one things for sure it's only going to stick where you have it so that may be something to consider untill you get it fixed
