MY car won't start

OK, guys, I know I don't have a 3rd gen camaro, but, this is probably the closest board to my car that could help me fix it. I drive an 84 olds delta 88, with a 307. I went out to start my car today for work, and it started, for about 5 seconds, tehn quit. There was no spitting, sputering, etc, it was just liek you turned the key off. So, I popped the hood, pulled a plug, and checked my spark by cranking the engine with the plug remoevd, but connected to teh wire, and grounded. I seem to have a red spark, which would indicate a bad coil, right? Cap/Rotor/Plugs/Wires were replaced about 3k mileas ago. this is the first time I've had a problem like this. I don't think it's fuel relaetd, but, is there a way to check my mechanical fuel pump, other than disconnectng the line, and cranking it over, to see how much fuel comes out? I'd realy appreciate some help with this, guys, I had to call into work today because of this, adn thast a ****ty thing to do, especially when your a college student. Thanks.

How likely is it that it is the fuel pump? Is there a way to etst a mechaical fuel pump, without flowing fuel all over the ground?

it's against board rules to post non-thirdgen related things... before this post gets locked I"ll try to help a little though..

If you have a MAF, then that seems like a likely culprit. Then I'd look at timing.

If you have an HEI then use this picture to help you troubleshoot the dizzy.

It sounds to me like the ignition switch could be bad. If you start the car, does it do the same thing repeatedly? Try playing with the key a bit when you start the car. Try moving the key back a little bit. The next thing to check would be an oil pressure switch, if there is one.
