anybody know where to get a 1.5 self aligning roller rocker arm?
I've been looking for these for a 3/8" stud. Can't find 'em. Anybody know where? Didn't see 'em in Summit. Need them for my L31 Vortec heads, just finished porting them. Buying springs and I'll probably use the GM pushrods since they're all OK, as I will use the lifters, too.
Depending on the cam, I may want to use a set of 1.6 on the exhaust side.

Proform makes a self-aligned, full-bearing roller rocker for 160-something. Looks like a big rocker, though. Probably would have to get bigger rocker covers.
They might not be as strong as the crane golds but they're more than $100 cheaper.
I saw it in the latest Jeg's cat.

Don't forget about Comp Cams Magnums. They don't have a roller fulcrum, and they're steal, but they are inexpensive and strong. That and they do provide clearance for the stock covers. I've read they're worth 10-15hp.
EDIT- They got them in Jeg's. They are about $200 a set and are also available in 1.6:1.

I'll look into proform, if they're any weaker or less desirable I'll get either the Crane or Comp's. Anybody have experiences with these? durability, performance?
Thanks for the help.

I haven't actually used a proform rocker, but logic says that a big aluminum rocker on a street engine is not going to break, especially if the stock rockers are still alive on the engine right now.
IMO 1.5 roller-rockers do free up hp, but are usually overkill on a street engine. Unless you're going to go for the cheap rollers, save your money.
1.6+ rollers are usually a different story...

I run 1.6 Proform full roller under stock centerbolt valve covers, one is with .525" lift. Have no clearance problems, but its probably real close
I haven't tried the self-aligning ones yet, I run pushrod guideplates, so their not needed here.

What about roller tip rockers? I have started thinking about an LPE cam, and if the exhaust side doesn't have high enough lift, I'll probably install 1.6 on the exhaust side. I've always used roller rockers, but truthfully, how good are the roller tipped ones? Anybody use 'em? Are they really that durable?

I have all the factory Vortec stuff like valvecovers anyway, and wanted to use those if possible to save some $$$.
