How much HP can a SBC block take?

How much HP can the block take with the proper internals and still be reliable. Is 600-700 HP possible?

okay one thing wrong with your question that is this

wise man once said FAST, RELIABLE OR CHEAP....PIC TWO AND THE OTHER IT WONT BE LOL

its gonna cost a lot of money to get to your 600-700 hp goal

once you reach the goal your driveablility is probably going out the window.....

how exactly are you planning on achieving this goal ??

nitros?
blower?
turbos?

AFR heads + 383/350 + The blower in my sig = 600-700 HP. That part I'am not really worried about what I'am after is the strength of the block itself and at what point do people start to have problems with it.

with that much hp you would most likely want to install splayed 4 bolt caps and have the block drilled for them ...

i have personally seen a few small block 350's that were up to 750hp in race cars that didnt have a problem with the block but im not exactly sure how much more you would want to push it ..

Even more when half rock-blocked. (block filler) I've seen some in the 900-1000 hp range sprayed to within an inch of their life.

yeah (block filler ) will work too.
