Spare tire replacement???

This may be a wierd question...I have a aluminum spare with crappy tread and a stock spare tire that has never been used. My question is, can a tire shop switch the rubber on deflated spare tires? I would love to have brand new tread on my spare.

If the tires are the same size, then why not just switch tires??

As long as the tread width is the same, then it could be done. I don't know about cost, and generally speaking, re-treaded tires are not good.

My 3 day old Comp T/A 255 had a screw in it and i had to take it off to get it down to the shopand i must say WHAT A PAIN IN THE ***
First off what was the general thinking?
I had to unscrew the panels in the trunk with a screwdriver that i dont have in my car.. luckily i was in my garage. Then i had to undo about 25 wingnuts to get everything out when i finally found the jack points got the car jacked 30 min later and started taking the nuts off i realized something the tool that was taking the lugs off had rounded innards and wouldnt take the lugs off. so i had to call AAA and guess what they got it off and as we went to put the spare on i cried the SPARE DIDNT FIT OVER THE GTA's CALIPERS IN THE REAR I almost cried i tried it on reverse to no avail i am mad

I hear ya Paladin, although I don't have to worry about GTA crap...

If you think about it though, there is no where else for a spare... there is only enough room for it deflated anyway... Although personally, I'd rather sacrifice my trunk space for a full sized spare.
