roller or not and what year??
I have a bare 350 block that I just bought. The guy said its a roller motor. How do I confirm? In the center of the lifter valley that runs over the cam from front to back are three holes or "bosses" does that mean it a roller motor? I have been on mortec for two hours and I cant figure out the year of the motor. how do I? here are some #'s 14093638 block casting #. I know that the date is jan 25 assembled in flint but no year. that date stamp is V0125CMA.
The 3 bosses in the lifter valley should be drilled and tapped for bolts to retain the lifter spider. The tops of the lifter bores should be machined flat for the "dogbones" to lay flat across them. And the front of the block should be drilled/tapped/machined to take the roller cam's retaining plate and bolts.
Make sure of all of this. Many "roller cam" blocks were used in trucks and such but only with a flat tappet cam. Which meant that sometimes the factory wouldn't actually finish off the block for all the roller cam accessories to just bolt right on.
