When the car is idleing it will pop from the exhaust every few secs. The car runs fine and has no drive ability issues. It also is worse when its cold. I think the car leaks a bit where the headers connect to the y pipe. Would this cause the car to pop?
Thanks
Shawn

I seriously doubt a leak at the y-pipe would cause any issues at all. More than likely you have a sticky exhaust valve or poor performing ignition system.

How does it run otherwise?

Runs perfect. Just pops. Only really does it cold and then just a hair once the car gets hot. It has MSD on it and it was wired poorly when I got the car so I had to rewire it. What could cause the poping? If it was ignition what would cause it to pop?

does it sound like a gunshot or just like a hollow echo (hard to explain)

Also do you have glass packs?

Sounds like you're burning off fuel in the exhaust. Especially if you are popping primarily when cold and the ECM dumps in a little extra fuel to help warm things up.

I agree with Stekman. Check your timing.

Timing is at 6 deg. I also ran VEmaster and burned a new chip and yet it still pops. The car has no exhaust leaks. I had that checked the other day. I wonder if the MSD is going bad or the wiring is messed up?

my car is doing that to but my car is alos running really bad and the valves are rattling, It all started with a little popping out the exhaust and with in 2 weeks time my car had lost a third of its power
