WHy does my ignition stick sometimes

it feels like it is locked and i can't start the car,i fiddle with it for a bit back and forth back and forth then it finally releases and i can start the car ,,what is wrong why won't it just turn right away.Thanks

it is a little worn.how can i get a new one,can't copy the old one if it's worn

Before you spend a bunch of money go to the hardware and spend a buck or two on a tube of dry graphite powder. Put a towel in your lap and shoot graphite into the keyhole. Then put your key in the hole and work the powder into the cylinder. Shoot some more around the outside of the cylinder where it meets the steering column.

Your problem will be gone........
