Read any books lately???!!!

Ok guys - so far these msg boards have been really helpful!!!
And a couple of times - ppl told me that there are books out there such as the:

David Shelby - Camaro performance handbook/performance modification for 82-92

Chiltons General Motors Camaro 82-92 repair manual

I have placed an order for these - but are there any others out there that would help a newbie with camaro performance modification - and keep the language simple???

Thanks
Jay

Oh just incase u have books for specific models - i have a 92 RS V8 - those are TBI - right???

If there is anything else that u need to know about the car before u suggest a book let me know!!!

The David Shelby book is good for a newbie to the f-body, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone that has experience already. I bought it a few months ago; and learned nothing from it. It's good for laying out the basics, though!!

Also, being a 2.8 V6 guy, I noticed David Shelby goofed on the V6 info. There's maybe once in the book where he's right on the 2.8/3.1 V6's... but I'm sure nobody cares but me!

I prefer the Haynes 82-92 book over the Chilton's. The Helms (GM Service Manual) book is great; I paid $60 for it back in 94, and it's falling apart from all my use. The Helms is technical, though. I use the Haynes for the basic procedures, but if something is in-depth, or something goes wrong, I go to the GM service manual. Find 'em at http://www.helminc.com .

GET THIS BOOK!!!!!!!

How to Build Max Performance Chevy Small Blocks On A Budget!!!
The publisher is CARTECH and the author is David Vizard. It's all leaman terms, but will teach you the language of engines. This guy knows cheap, effective tricks.

You can find it through any Barnes&Noble bookstore. My wife works there. That's the only reason I found it. This guy won races against Formula 2 cars, GT 40s, and Cobras, and he was in a Austin Mini Cooper. He knows his sh*t!!

Yep, David Vizard is a grumpy old ***** but the man is 100% on the money when it comes to performance, although the budget may be shattered with this book, you only get what you pay for and it helps more for the DIY'ers with porting heads and head casting weaknesses. Good read...

Also check out chevy tpi fuel injection swappers guide (John Baechtel). Lot of cross year compos and some tips. I'd hate to admit it, but there is alot of good info in TPIS's 1st edition and also alot of BS when it comes to marketing their stuff (biased, only we could do it stuff...)

Between Vizards book and the tpi book, you could build a shortblock and fuel inject it too!

The swapper guide really doesn't talk much about making the swap to TPI, actually next to nothing. Its best for the electrical diagnostic guides.
