A/C Problem ... Something I haven't heard of before

Here's the problem.....
- When I turn on my A/C the air is hot
- once I get moving ... it cools off
- about 30 seconds after I stop at a light.. it gets warm again
- when I get moving again ... it cools of...

WTF????

Its either low on refridgerant (sp?) or the cooling fans arent coming on with the AC on like they are supposed to. The fans are more likely.

88,

If the fan(s) are operating as they should, don't be surprised to find a loss of refrigerant. I had the same issues with my '86 about four years ago, and had to go an extra 10oz. of R12 to get the pressures adequate at such low compressor RPM (at idle) to get effective cooling.

If the fan(s) isn't operating shortly after the compressor is cycled on and you have adequate high side pressure, check the pressure switch and connections at the high side. It should close at about 175PSIG if my memory isn't totally gone.

If that don't check out, check your vacume for leaks or cracked vacume canister.

Thanks Guys...
