BROKEN DIPSTICK TUBE- can I lose oil?
the dipstick tube snapped off at the header- and lately my oil pressure has been up and down (from 30-60psi erradically) and I have put 3 qts into it in the past 2 weeks... what the hell.
oil pressure and the amount of oil in the engine are not directly related. sure you can lose oil if there's an opening for it to leak out and if enough leaks out you can lose oil pressure

well my oil pressure has been bouncing around a lot lately- any idea at all what it could be? do oil pumps die? could my filter be so clogged that it's restricting that much? I mean it's been almost 3k but still...

Ok, I'll be serious and sober for a sec, yes it could happen because of the filter, if there were a problem with the bypass valve in it.
