My A/C compressor won't cycle!
Hey everyone. I just had my A/C system serviced and a new compressor, orrifice tube and dryer were put in and everything converted to R134a. The A/C blows cold and works good, but the compressor doesn't cycle. It's on ALL the time. Is that normal ? The only thing that I did was removed the connector that goes in the high pressure line (the one that tells the 2nd fan to turn on) and shorted it to make it thik the AC is on and have the 2nd fan on all the time. Does that have anything to do with the rest of the AC system ?

What makes it cycle is the pressure in the low side falling below some minimum value. The reason it is set up that way is to keep it from freezing when it's low of Freon and it's not real hot ouside.
So, if it's full of Freon and it's hot out, the pressure will never go low enough to make it cycle.

The R-134A makes it worse since it runs warmer. It will probably cycle when the outside temperature is less than 60 degrees.
