New Dyno #s
My son and myself took the '88 out to Finish Line Performance in Naperville, IL last week to see what their Dynojet said. Ended up with 336hp and 360tq. Makes me wonder how other cars on this board and other boards put down 400+ hp but run 12.xx . In the words of Andy Rooney, of 60 Minutes, Why is that!! Anyway, I'll take what the track tells me over what the dyno has to say.

its really weird u only put down 336 hp with the motor like yours.Im beginning to lose trust in dynojet numbers myself .I believe more in engine dynos and track result.Have u ever had your engine on a engine dyno???

No, never had it on a engine dyno. There is a really good thread on the Corvette Forum about this very subject. Jesse and another member had their cars dyno'd 10 minutes apart and only a 30hp difference, yet Jesses car goes 10.2 vs 11.2 for the other guy. Dyno #s are very much overrated, IMO. That track mph doesn't lie.

if that's rear wheel hp you're talking about, you're not so bad off after adding in driveline friction.about 25%is a bit conservative to the final #s but unarguable.i get about 410hp off the top of my head(too lazy to use the calculator).that's if it indeed a rear wheel dyno.that's a really good mph!there's no way on the hp you quoted, unless you sprayed it at the track!
hope that helps

Thats about right................
Your MPH and dyno numbers are right in the ball park for those of us with like combos.
Dynos are nice for tuning, and, thats about it........
Nice short time though, what did you use to hook it up?

There's oo much more that goes into ET/mph at the track than just what the motor itself puts out. Ever heard the term "more with less" You could have IDENTICAL engines in identical cars, but have different trannies, convertors, shift points, tires, etc...the list goes on and on. Even if all thiings behind the motor are "the same" the amount of slippage and parasitic loss will never be the same. Alignment, unsprung weight, etc...The engine is just one part of the big equation for going fast, all the parts behind the motor need to be tuned just as well for the engines output and able to utilize it.
Atmosphere also plays into the factor big time. Take identical cars, one runs 11's in Denver and the other will run high 9's in Jersey-kinda far off, but you get the picture.

MPH is a better measurement of HP than e/t.
