What size sway bar do I have??
It's an 89 IROC-Z with a 305 and auto trans. I need to know the front and rear sway bar diameters.

Instead of going to go to all the trouble of opening the console and finding the RPO and posting it and waiting, I think it would be easier to just take a micrometer out to the car and measure them. That's basically foolproof.

RB is right. There is an even easier method. I bet you have the required tools also.
1)Open your tool box or drawer and grab a manly size adjustable wrench and a ruler with cm on one side.
2)Walk to car
3) slide yourself under the car enough to clamp the adjustable wrench down on the sway bar then without loosening the wrench, pull it away from the sway bar and hold it up against the ruler.
4) the conversion factor is 2.2 cm/inch
So a 1.54" measured sway bar is 34mm
good luck

Ok I'll have to take those measurements tomorrow night after work...it's dark here now...damned rain. On the bright side I got all of my fuel and brake lines out today. The car is basically just a shell now.

You are so correct. The interesting thing about being over 40 is that you are positive you remember it right, but somehow or another some neurons cross connect and 2.54 turns into 2.2
Well I laid those two rules next to each other and you are absolutely correct.
2.54CM = 1"
Thanks for refreshing my memory
By the way my transmission is just a TH700R4.
I haven't ever wanted to cross breed a Ford and Chevy like that. Yuch!
However now that you have me thinking abaout it... it would be fun to slip a small block 400 and a M21 into my moms 1980 Pinto(she's 77, I'm 41).
"Hey mom .. I tuned up your Pinto. Be careful with the clutch, OK?"
