Move A/C radiator to install cam?

I'm swapping a cam with the engine in the car. Any ideas on moving (what I think is) the A/C radiator out of the way? Do I need to disconnect the A/C hoses? Thanks/L

If your referring to the device in front of the radiator, than yes, it is the AC condensor. What I would try doing is see if you can move it up out of the way just enough the slide the cam in. There is usually enough slack in the AC lines to allow you to move certain parts around out of your way. Many people just go this route when installing certain other things, like headers, they just unbolt what's in the way and work around it.

You can disconnect the AC lines if you want to, but just keep in mind that once you disconnect those lines, you're going to lose all of your refrigerant, so no ice-cold air until it get's refilled (and if your still running R-12 it can get expensive), and technically it's illegal to vent refrigerant into the atmosphere. Just something to think about.

Like he said, you can carefully move it out of the way with the emphasis on carefully. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you might be new at this game and it seems that there has been a spate of new cams being wiped out, try "setting rocker adjustment" under search if you need help, because you don't want to do this twice.

Thanks for the help. I'll will not discharge that crap into the environment, so, very carefully, it better move out of the way, as you suggest. I will also search the thread suggested, since, indeed, I'm a new 'newbie'. I worked on engines in the mid seventies; 396, 327, 440, none with so many hoses and wires as the '87 305. It's been a long time.
