If my car sounds like a diesel truck is that bad?

YES IT IS!!!!

So i had a little fun in the snow, doing doughnuts, Didnt really over rev at all except once into 4000...which still isnt bad. But about half an hour after that I drove my buddy to work, the second he stepped out of the car.....its just wants to stall, then goes into deisel mode....yeah....as loud a a cummins truck...same sound and everything....

So i pull into the parking lot....turn off the car and pop the hood. Start it again, really hard to start....then mur mur mur brrrr (deisel sounds)....loud as hell....i was like covering my face cause im embarrased of my cummins camaro.

Luckily my other friend that was following me at the time had 2 liters of oil (5W30) so i put that in, gets a bit better, but still hard to start. Then after stalling and starting again, it went back to normal.... like wtf So i made it down the highway (thank ***) and got back home.

What the hell happened, I was scared to ****. I just couldnt beleive the sound. If a semi truck came by I could compete with him for loudness......it was awful

To be on the safe side should I get some engine restore? Also, forgot to mention I have a small oil leak, So wouldnt the engine restore just leak out anyway?

Thanx

Curtis

Do an oil change and check to see if your oil looks like metallic paint with all kinds of sparkly bits in it. How's the oil pressure? I burnt up a Nissan motor when doing donuts in the gravel when the oil was really low. Best guess is it sucked the pan dry and that's all she wrote. That motor lasted almost 10 years before some other kid just recently blew it up again.

lol you need to watch your oil levels a little more closely if it will take 2 litres like that. But think about it.. the oil shouldnt make the exhaust louder like that. And I dont think it could have been an exhaust leak, because it went back to normal.. Wow. That's a real head scratcher.

Heh I was out really late playing with my exhaust cutout and it got stuck in the full open position.. you think your car was loud.. try trying to sneak home with open manifolds...

The engine? oh ****.. Go get that v8 in there now. :P

spun bearing? rod knock? maybe it's a wrist pin, or something in the valvetrain got owned. I still cant see why it would have gone back to normal though. My bet would be on the valvetrain though.

Im guessing oil pan got sucked dry, think about it, your doing donuts, all the oil is shifted to one side of the oil pan.

But the damage would have already been done. It doesn't take long to wipe out the bearings. I'd stop worrying about it and drop in a 350.

Re: If my car sounds like a diesel truck is that bad?

OK so like 5 months ago I was driving my Camaro z28 and I hopped a curve and then the next day it sounded like a diesel engine OK so yes I do have low oil pressure but I been working on the opti and ICM but those haven't changed the sound of it So I'm asking like how did you fix your problem??

You forgot to add a few "likes" in that sentence. It should read more like this so the youngsters today can understand it:

Like OK so they like haven’t logged in here in like ELEVEN years like OK so this thread is like nearly 14 years old.
