Car got hit by lightning Elec. prob.

Well I was driving home from work yesterday and it was a thunder storm. I was driving and my car got hit by lightning on the antenna. Now I have some unusal problems. My 3rd brake light is out, and when the car is on the seat belt light is on dimly and buzzing until the seat belt is pulled out half way(only the bottom). I was wearing the seatbelt when the lightning struck. And obviously the antenna wire is toaseted no reception. Any ideas?! I'm baffeled

Man, you're lucky to be alive. Two years ago a car on campus got struck by lightning too. It wasn't pretty. It was a Pontiac Sunfire with the antenna coming out of the rear 1/4 panel. The lightning reduced the antenna to a curly burnt up piece of metal about 5" long. It fried the entire quarter panel, and found the ground through the rear wheel, melting the wheel cover and tire in the process and leaving a 1 ft wide 3" deep crater in the parking lot. I would have been surprised to find anyone alive in that car had they been in it when it got hit. The lightning fried most of the car's electronics and caused about $1000 worth of damage. BTW, instead of hitting the the tallest building on campus only about 100ft away, the lightning chose the car.
